San Francisco Science, Literature, & Art Integration Workshop

I believe in parallel universes. In most universes, I’m a public school teacher. It’s still my destiny, but in our present universe I happen to be taking a multi-decade detour to pursue science (in the lab) and communication (to the public).

[Note: I’m pretty sure I mean this metaphorically, although I could listen to Brian Greene talk about actual parallel universes all day long].

My cosmic connection to public education means I’m always thrilled to collaborate with teachers. Maureen Sullivan (whose incredible job title is 21st Century Science, Art and Literacy Coach) and I met at a teacher training event at Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve. She wanted to do a workshop to encourage teachers to make songs with their students. Being on the other side of the globe, my contribution was this video.

I hope it provides some helpful tips to teachers considering bringing music into the classroom. If any teachers out there have further questions, get in touch. It’ll give me a chance to communicate with some some alternate universes.
